The company continues to grow as more and more businesses and homeowners convert from alternate fuels, such as oil and electricity, to natural gas heating and water heating. Today, natural gas satisfies 24% of our nation's total energy demand and only 18% of New England's energy demand. The region's under-saturated natural gas market means growth opportunities for natural gas companies that are unparalleled in most other areas of the country.
Natural gas usage in New England is expected to significantly increase, given that the region has increased its pipeline capacity in recent years and no longer sits at the end of a few domestic pipelines.
The region is now supplied with natural gas from five major pipelines, from both the north and south, including the Algonquin Gas Transmission System, Tennessee Gas Pipeline, Iroquois Gas Transmission System, Portland Natural Gas Transmission System, and Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline.
