Former State Representative Michael F. Kane joins Columbia Gas of Massachusetts

Westborough, MA., Columbia Gas of Massachusetts, a subsidiary of NiSource Inc. (NYSE: NI), announces that Michael F. Kane, State Representative from the 5th Hampden District (Holyoke), will join the company as the Director of Government Affairs effective June 11, 2012.

“I have been honored and privileged to represent the city that I have called home for my entire life—first on the Holyoke City council and currently in the Massachusetts House of Representatives,” said Kane. “I have been humbled to be supported and elected eight times by folks I call family, neighbors and friends.”

In his role with Columbia Gas, Kane will be responsible for building and maintaining professional relationships with constituents and key external stakeholders in the 65 cities and towns served by Columbia Gas. He will focus on customers, energy industry matters and strategic regulatory and business issues.

Kane added, “After careful consideration and consultation with my wife, Karin, and parents, Franny and Joyce, I announced my resignation from my elected position at the close of business on June 8, 2012. I wish to extend my thanks for the privilege of serving the people of the 5th Hampden District. I look forward to the next chapter in my career as I join the leadership team at Columbia Gas.”
