Zoots Dry Cleaners goes High-Efficiency!

Like many businesses, Zoots Dry Cleaners wanted to become more energy efficient, but wasn’t sure whether the improvements would pay off. But with the help of Columbia Gas of Massachusetts, this forward-thinking company embraced new, clean technologies, while continuing to set the standard for dry cleaning excellence, giving customers the utmosin service and convenience.
“When we heard about Columbia Gas’ programs and services – including rebates and incentives for small businesses that make energy upgrades – we realized they could help us pay for our efficiency project and recoup the initial investments much faster,” said Rick Simoneau, Co-Director of Zoots, “and this began an eight-month project that slashed our energy costs in half.”
Following a comprehensive energy assessment by one of Columbia Gas’ qualified efficiency specialists, Zoots received a detailed report identifying potential energysaving opportunities and efficiency upgrades at their Brockton, Massachusetts facility. Columbia Gas then helped Zoots determine the upgrade costs, project energy cost savings, and identify a qualified independent contractor to test and eventually install state-of-the-art, environmentally safe machines. These cleaners gently and effectively remove stains and dirt, saving Zoots more than 50 percent on annual energy costs. Thanks to the energy savings and Columbia Gas’ generous incentives, Zoots’ return on investment for this project was very attractive.
