Columbia Gas of Massachusetts collaborates with Fire Fighters for Operation Warm providing 600 new coats to children

Dec 21, 2016

This time of year we think about giving. It’s also a time to remember those in need by finding ways to make their lives a little brighter.

Columbia Gas of Massachusetts collaborated with Fire Fighters for Operation Warm to provide 600 new coats to children from low income families in Brockton, Springfield and Lawrence. Columbia Gas donated $10,000 to purchase 300 USA-made coats and the Professional Firefighters of Massachusetts matched the donation. Columbia Gas' Energy Efficiency programs sponsored local advertising that urged customers to request a home energy assessment in October. For each home energy assessment, we donated a coat to children in Headstart programs administered by local fuel assistance agencies. Employees across the three divisions donated new hats and mittens to be distributed with the coats and employee volunteers worked along-side firefighters to fit each child with a coat.

Wishing you a wonderful Holiday Season
